Child Writing in Classroom

Empowering Education for Every Learner

Our Mission

At Learn for Life Education, we believe every student learns best when their identity, experiences, and strengths are the foundation of their education. Founded by Dr. Elena Darling-Hammond in 2010, we partner with schools to design accessible curriculum and equip educators with the tools and practices they need to reach every learner in their classroom.

When teachers have access to inclusive practices, all of their students benefit. We also work directly with students and families to build the self-advocacy skills that help them navigate school systems with confidence — because every student deserves to know their own power.

Who we work with

Students & Families

We help students understand how they learn best. We also teach them their rights, how to prepare for IEP meetings, and help them  build the confidence to advocate for themselves inside and outside of school.

Educators & Staff

Hands-on workshops and coaching support that move beyond theory — giving teachers practical tools for culturally responsive, inclusive classrooms.

Schools & Districts

We partner with curriculum teams to design learning experiences that are accessible from the start — not retrofitted. Grounded in Universal Design for Learning.

The Future is Inclusive

Many classrooms are designed for one kind of learner and then adapted for everyone else. We flip that. By building multiple ways to engage with material and demonstrate understanding from the start, every student has a genuine path to success.

Inclusive Practices

Great teaching doesn't start with accommodations — it starts with design. We build learning environments where every student's identity, culture, and way of knowing is treated as an academic strength, not a variable to manage. That means creating multiple paths to the same goal, so no student needs a workaround to succeed. Grounded in Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and Culturally Responsive & Sustaining Pedagogy (CRSP).

Empowered Student Advocacy

Every student has the right to be heard in their own education. It starts with self-knowledge: students who understand how they learn are better equipped to ask for what they need. We give students the language and tools to speak up in IEP meetings and any room where decisions are being made about their learning. Because students who know themselves are the ones who can advocate for themselves.
